Content strategy brings together lots of disciplines and draws on their individual strengths to decide how, what, when, where and why to publish any type of content for a given audience.
As a content strategist, I research and develop user personas, define customer journeys, promote and implement best practices in user experience (UX), and create publication schedules.
At the same time, I define an organization’s aims for its content and consider who should be shown what, when.
Content strategy also covers information architecture (IA), which I love more than a human should.
Think of a content strategist as a consultant (whether internal or external) who ensures that your organization is set up to succeed in every possible way from an editorial perspective.
